Help! My designer went missing in the middle of a project!

Have you ever worked with a flaky freelancer?

I recently received a frantic call from a client of mine. They told me  that their designer suddenly went off the grid in the middle of their project. I could tell they were nervous and unsure of what they should  do next. I was able to step in and help them out with a few quick  turnaround items. This client later let me know that they never received  an answer or apology from their designer regarding the delay.

Emergencies  or unexpected personal issues can arise at any time. However, it’s important to communicate with your client and let them know what is  happening, especially if it gets in the way of making a crucial deadline.

Freelancers by nature can often be on the receiving end of negative stigmas and  stereotypes, especially those who are working in creative fields. Creatives can sometimes be viewed as unreliable, unprofessional, or lacking in communication skills. This certainly isn’t the case with every creative freelancer, but it may be something to keep an eye on if  you’re starting to have doubts about who you’re working with. When you work with a designer who sticks with a process, sets expectations, and communicates clearly, it will save you time and help your projects go more smoothly.

If  you’ve been noticing any repetitive traits of your designer going radio silent during the days leading up to a deadline, not answering  important phone calls or emails, or missing deadlines altogether, it may be time to cut the cord with them and look at your other options.

Here at Oxyjen Design, one of our first priorities is to leave flakiness and drama out of the equation. If you’re looking for a friendly and reliable designer, book a call to chat more about what it’s like to work with me!

If  you’re facing a similar issue of your designer going missing at a  critical time, let me see what I can do. In the past, I’ve been able to  step in when other designers unexpectedly had urgent medical issues  arise, so I’m always happy to help.
